Liquid Facelift Frequently Asked Questions
A liquid facelift is a non-surgical procedure that involves the use of injectable facial fillers to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, restore volume, lift sunken and sagging areas, and enhance facial features. Faster, cheaper, and far less painful than facelift surgery, a liquid facelift can take years off your appearance with no downtime!
In this article the liquid facelift experts at Better U Medical Spa in the Hoboken, NJ area answer our patients’ most common Frequently Asked Questions, about this remarkable anti-aging aesthetic procedure.
What are the types of fillers used in a liquid facelift?
The most common fillers used in a liquid facelift are hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers such as Restylane and Juvéderm. This is because each of these families of facial fillers come in a variety of formulas that are unique designed for different areas of the face: from the cheeks, lips, and nasolabial folds to the nose and jawline!
How long does a liquid facelift last?
The longevity of a liquid facelift varies depending on the type of filler used and the areas treated. Generally, hyaluronic (HA) fillers like Restylane and Juvéderm last between 6 and 24 months – with each formula having a different lifespan.
Is a liquid facelift painful?
No! Most patients experience minimal discomfort during a liquid facelift, as the fillers are injected using a small, fine needle. Additionally, all Juvéderm formulas are now XC – indicating that they have the numbing agent lidocaine right in the formula. Topical anesthetic cream and/ or an ice pack may also be used upon request to minimize any discomfort.
Are there any side effects associated with a liquid facelift?
Common side effects of a liquid facelift are typically very mild, such as minor redness, swelling, and bruising at the injection site. These usually resolve within a few days. Infection and/or allergic reactions may occur, but these side effects are extremely rare.
How long does a liquid facelift take?
The procedure typically takes less than an hour – including discussing the patient’s cosmetic goals – depending on the number of areas treated.
Can I resume my normal activities after a liquid facelift?
Yes, most patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure. However, it is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, hot showers or hot tubs, and alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment. Patients should also refrain from touch or rubbing their face for 48 hours or longer so as not to dislodge or move the fillers.
How soon will I see results from a liquid facelift?
Results are usually visible immediately after the procedure, although swelling and bruising may temporarily obscure the final outcome for a few hours. This makes it an ideal treatment to receive a few days before a high school reunion, vacation, or other big event.
This time of year, liquid facelifts are extremely popular with mothers-of-the-bride (or groom) for looking youthful and refreshed in wedding photos!
Can a liquid facelift be combined with other treatments?
Yes, a liquid facelift can be combined with other non-surgical treatments such as Botox and laser treatments to achieve optimal results.
At Better U Medical Spa in the Hoboken area, we offer several state-of-the-art skin tightening treatments that can be combine with a liquid facelift (at a separate appointment) to lift and contract loose or excess skin with no pain and no surgery.
These skin tightening treatments also stimulate collagen and elastic production for natural skin tightening, smoothing, and strengthening. The result is an even more dramatically younger looking face and neck area.
Is there anyone who can’t get a liquid facelift?
A liquid facelift is suitable for most patients. However, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or people having certain medical conditions may not be eligible for this procedure.
Why is a liquid facelift better than a surgical facelift?
A liquid facelift is preferred by many of our Hoboken patients because it is a non-surgical procedure that involves minimal to no downtime, no scarring, much less pain, and far fewer risks than facelift surgery. It is also considerably less expensive than a surgical facelift and can be performed in a doctor’s office without the need for general anesthesia.
Additionally, a liquid facelift can be tailored to the individual’s changing needs and appearance goals – and can be repeated or adjusted as needed – unlike a surgical facelift that is a one-time procedure that can never be undone, adjusted, or reversed.
