CoolSculpting Frequently Asked Questions
At Better U Medical Spa, we pride ourselves on being the leading provider of CoolSculpting in the Fort Lee, NJ area. Through CoolSculpting, hundreds of our patients have been able to reach their aesthetic goals and get the body they love – without diet or exercise.
In this article, we will answer some of the questions our Fort Lee, NJ area patients frequently have at the beginning of their CoolSculpting journey.
How is Does CoolSculpting Work?
CoolSculpting uses a process called cryolipolysis to literally “freeze away” unwanted fat cells from the treatment area. This is accomplished by placing the treatment area between a pair of cooling panels, which lower its temperature to the point of freezing. In doing so, CoolSculpting is able to kill the fat cells, which the body will then naturally eliminate over the course of several weeks.
How Long Does CoolSculpting Take?
Since all CoolSculpting patients have unique bodies with unique goals, the time it will take to meet those goals will vary from patient to patient. In general, however, most of the CoolSculpting treatments performed at Fort Lee, NJ’s Better U Medical Spa take about 35-60 minutes. This is based primarily on cases of patients treating only a single area with CoolSculpting; patients who wish to treat more than one area per appointment can expect a longer procedure.
But however long a single CoolSculpting session takes, the fact that patients do not require anesthetic means that they are free to pass the time of their procedure by reading, texting, listening to music, or however they see fit.
Does CoolSculpting Hurt?
Not only is CoolSculpting nonsurgical and noninvasive, it is also completely painless. And since CoolSculpting is performed without making a single incision, no form of anesthesia is required. At the onset of the procedure, the CoolSculpting treatment area will feel extremely cold, but this sensation will subside once the area has been numbed, which usually only takes about 5-10 minutes.
Though CoolSculpting is pain-free, patients may feel some slight pulling, tugging, and even minor pinching while the treatment area is being fitted with the CoolSculpting hand peace. But while this may be somewhat uncomfortable, none of our CoolSculpting patients report it being at all painful.
Some minor swelling, bruising, or tingling sensations may occur within the treatment area following a session of CoolSculpting, all of which is a completely normal part of the process. Some patients experience redness or whiteness in the treatment area as well, and in more rare cases may feel slightly tender. However, any such side effects are perfectly normal -and more importantly temporary- parts of the CoolSculpting healing process, and should not persist for any longer than a week.
What Parts of the Body Can CoolSculpting Treat?
Other than the calves and ankles, the FDA has approved CoolSculpting to remove fat from practically every area of the body. At Better U Medical Spa, Fort Lee, NJ area patients can turn to CoolSculpting to decrease volume from the stomach, upper arms, buttocks, back, neck, muffin top, and even the area under the chin.
Male patients who wish to remove fat from the chest area can also do so with CoolSculpting. That said, patients considering this particular procedure should note that in order to remove actual breast tissue (rather than just fat), their goals may be more effectively met through procedures such as liposuction or gynecomastia surgery.
How Many CoolSculpting Treatments Do I Need?
For Fort Lee, NJ area patients who wish to treat one single, smaller deposit of fat, a single CoolSculpting treatment is often enough to produce results. Patients who wish to treat larger fat deposits, however, may require multiple CoolSculpting treatments to produce results.
Dr. Gor compiles a customized treatment plan for all of her CoolSculpting patients, designed to specifically meet their own personal aesthetic goals. During their consultation, Dr. Gor will discuss precisely what the patient hopes to accomplish through CoolSculpting, and will proceed accordingly in determining their course of treatment.
